Let customers upload, crop, customize, and order photo prints directly from your store.

MWS Photo Print Studio for WooCommerce adds a photo printing workflow to your WooCommerce product pages. Customers can upload their picture, adjust the crop, choose a print size, select paper quality and finishing, and place an order through your existing WooCommerce checkout.

For the printing team, each order includes the selected print specifications alongside the original photo and cropped image, helping reduce manual follow-ups and confusion about what the customer wants printed.

What Does This Plugin Do?

The plugin turns an enabled WooCommerce product into a customizable photo print product.

Instead of asking customers to email images separately or describe their requirements in order notes, it collects the photo and print choices before the item enters the cart.

Customers can:

  • Choose horizontal, vertical, or square orientation.
  • Select a print size available for that orientation.
  • Choose paper quality and finishing.
  • View an estimated price for the selected options.
  • Upload a JPG, PNG, or WEBP photo.
  • Crop the photo to the selected print proportions.
  • Rotate the image inside the crop editor.
  • Preview the saved crop before adding it to the cart.
  • Order multiple copies using the WooCommerce quantity field.

Store managers can configure the available options and pricing, then access the original and cropped photos from the WooCommerce order.

Who Can Use It?

The plugin is designed for businesses that accept customer photos for printing, including:

  • Photo studios selling standard photo prints.
  • Print shops offering different sizes, paper types, and finishes.
  • Photographers accepting print orders from customers.
  • Online photo printing businesses that want customers to prepare their images before checkout.
  • Poster and wall-print sellers offering customer-uploaded artwork or photographs.

It is particularly useful when the same print product has many combinations of size, paper, and finishing. These choices are managed through the plugin’s settings rather than requiring a separate WooCommerce variation for every combination.

Main Features

Orientation-Based Print Sizes

Customers select horizontal, vertical, or square orientation. The print-size dropdown then shows the matching sizes.

Each size has its own label, crop ratio, and base price. The crop editor uses the configured ratio to help customers choose the correct print area.

Photo Upload and Crop Editor

Customers can upload JPG, PNG, and WEBP images within the configured upload limit.

The crop editor lets them adjust the print area and rotate the image left or right. After saving, they can see a preview of the cropped photo on the product page.

Changing the print size or orientation requires a new crop. Changing paper quality or finishing preserves the saved crop.

Configurable Paper and Finishing

Offer choices such as Standard or Premium paper and Glossy or Matte finishing.

Each option can have an additional charge, allowing customers to see how their selections affect the print price.

Automatic Pricing

The plugin calculates the unit price using:

Print size base price + paper quality charge + finishing charge

For example:

Selected option Price
Print size ₹100
Premium paper ₹20
Matte finishing ₹10
Price per copy ₹130

If the customer orders three copies, the item subtotal becomes ₹390 before any applicable WooCommerce taxes, shipping, or discounts.

The plugin uses the store’s WooCommerce currency; the amounts above are examples.

Files and Specifications Stored with Orders

The order includes the selected orientation, print size, paper quality, finishing, crop ratio, and pricing details.

Store managers also receive previews and download links for:

  • The original uploaded photo.
  • The cropped image prepared by the customer.

This keeps the printing requirements together with the purchase.

Installation

  1. Make sure WordPress and WooCommerce are installed and active.
  2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  3. Select the plugin ZIP file and click Install Now.
  4. Activate MWS Photo Print Studio for WooCommerce.
  5. Open WooCommerce → Photo Print Studio to configure the print options.

If replacing the earlier plugin with the old folder name, deactivate that version before activating the renamed plugin.

Configure Your Print Options

1. Add Print Sizes and Base Prices

Enter one print size per line using this format:

Label|orientation|ratio|base_price

Examples:

6x4 inch|horizontal|3:2|20

4x6 inch|vertical|2:3|20

8x8 inch|square|1:1|120

The four values represent:

Value Purpose
Label The print size customers see
Orientation horizontal, vertical, or square
Ratio The width-to-height proportion used by the crop editor
Base price The starting unit price for that size

Keep the ratio consistent with the physical print dimensions.

2. Add Paper Quality Options

Enter one option per line using:

Label|extra_price

Examples:

Standard|0

Premium|20

A zero value means that option adds no extra charge.

3. Add Finishing Options

Use the same format:

Label|extra_price

Examples:

Glossy|0

Matte|10

4. Set the Upload Limit

Enter the maximum allowed image size in megabytes and save your settings.

Your hosting server must also support the upload request size. Because the original and cropped images are submitted together, the server’s request limit needs sufficient headroom.

Print sizes, paper options, finishing options, and the upload limit are shared across enabled products.

Enable Photo Printing on a Product

  1. Go to Products → Add New, or edit an existing product.
  2. Add the product title, description, and product image.
  3. In the product data panel, enable Photo Print Upload.
  4. Configure the normal WooCommerce product settings, such as stock and shipping.
  5. Publish or update the product.

For enabled products, the plugin calculates the print price from the selected options. A normal regular price can be left empty.

Start with a simple WooCommerce product and test the complete ordering process before accepting customer orders.

How Customers Place an Order

  1. Open the product: Visit a product with photo printing enabled.
  2. Choose orientation: Select horizontal, vertical, or square.
  3. Choose a print size: Pick from the sizes available for that orientation.
  4. Select paper and finishing: Review the updated estimated unit price.
  5. Upload a photo: Choose a supported image within the upload limit.
  6. Crop the photo: Click Crop Photo, adjust the crop, and rotate if needed.
  7. Apply the crop: Save it and wait for the confirmation.
  8. Check the preview: Make sure the desired subject remains inside the print area.
  9. Choose quantity: Enter the number of copies.
  10. Add to cart and checkout: Complete the purchase through WooCommerce.

Each configured cart item uses one uploaded photo. To order a different photo or another crop, customers repeat the process and add it as a separate item.

How Store Managers Fulfil an Order

  1. Open WooCommerce → Orders.
  2. Select the customer’s order.
  3. Review the print specifications for each item.
  4. Download the original photo and cropped print file.
  5. Check image quality against the requested physical size.
  6. Prepare and print the required number of copies.
  7. Update the order status through WooCommerce.

The original image is available as a reference if the printing team needs to inspect the source photo.

Photo Handling and Security

New uploads include image-content validation, file-size checks, and session ownership verification.

New photo files are served through access-controlled download links for the uploading session or authorized store managers. Abandoned uploads are scheduled for cleanup after 48 hours through WordPress’s scheduled-task system; files associated with orders are retained.

Photos uploaded through older plugin versions retain their previous URLs.

Print Quality: What to Know

The crop editor prepares the image composition, but it does not guarantee professional print quality.

A small or low-resolution photo may look acceptable on screen and still appear soft when printed at a large size. The plugin does not automatically upscale images, enforce a minimum DPI, convert files to CMYK, or add bleed and crop marks.

Check resolution, sharpness, colour requirements, and production dimensions before printing—especially for posters and large formats.

Design and Compatibility

The frontend uses scoped CSS, styled dropdowns, consistent buttons, and a responsive crop dialog to reduce conflicts with WordPress themes and CSS frameworks.

The editor includes a close button, rotation controls, keyboard navigation, and saving feedback. Cropper assets are bundled locally.

Compatibility can still depend on how a theme or page builder renders WooCommerce product forms. Test the product page, upload process, cart, checkout, and order downloads with your chosen theme and other active plugins.
